Why studying Total Quality Management is beneficial for the students, and how it is going to help them in their professional career

I teach Total Quality Management in Hajvery University, Lahore Pakistan. HU is a prestigious institution where I found a lot of scope to teaching and learning.

Any student who wants to see himself as a quality professional, a solid understanding of quality management systems can helps him to make better decisions. There is a more basic reason to master the subject. The recent economic turnaround has seen many corporate professionals at a young career stage are turning towards becoming a quality professional. This gives them an opportunity to apply and exercise their collegiate learning in real world scenario. So it seems to be a preemptive move, for young graduates, with the subject knowledge on hand for leveraging opportunities.

The Total Quality Management course has been devised to abreast students regarding the importance of Quality, Management practices in organizations. It is said that every 2nd person in the job dreams about starting his own business. Few take the initiative and for others it remains only a dream. What it takes for someone to start his own business had remained a mystery for a very long time. Now the modern research has shown & proven that entrepreneurs are made and not born. Just like any other art, this art of entrepreneurship can be learned, improvised and put to practice.
In line with the above philosophy a course of Entrepreneurship has been designed and is an integral part of MBA and BBA (Hons.) program at Hajvery University. The significance of the course increases many folds due to the fact that it has been particularly designed keeping in view the socio economic political and cultural environments of Pakistan. Important topics include, understanding risk taking, entrepreneurial process, starting a business from scratch, buying an existing business, personnel management, alternative start-up options and harvesting strategies etc.
It does not necessarily mean that a student right after his degree completion is expected to start his own business. He may start his career by undertaking relevant jobs initially, learn the ropes and when the time is right, take the plunge.
Apart from the facts that the course is geared towards entrepreneurs but it has a broader perspective as well. Recent studies have shown that the developed economies of the world such as USA, Canada and even in India, it is the entrepreneurship engine that provides 22% to their total GDP contribution. Therefore, through systematic approach, we manage to accelerate the entrepreneurship phenomenon in Pakistan. It can definitely contribute significantly in the country’s economic prosperity not only by bringing money into circulation, creating healthy competition but also creating employment opportunities for masses.
